About LHS

A group of seven young people stand together, each holding a certificate.

At Lamar High School, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, pursue their passions, and graduate prepared for whatever comes next. Serving approximately 349 students in grades 9–12, Lamar High School combines the pride of a tradition-rich community with a commitment to innovation, academic excellence, and student success. Established in 1858, our school has long been a cornerstone of the Lamar community, producing generations of graduates who make a positive impact across Missouri and beyond.

Our students benefit from rigorous academic programs, dual credit and Advanced Placement opportunities, career and technical education pathways, championship athletics, award-winning fine arts, and a wide variety of clubs and activities. Whether students are preparing for college, the workforce, military service, or skilled trades, we are dedicated to helping each one build the knowledge, skills, and character needed for lifelong success.

Beyond academics, our focus is on creating a culture where every student is known, valued, and supported. Through meaningful relationships, high expectations, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we challenge students to grow both inside and outside the classroom. We believe learning extends beyond textbooks, encouraging leadership, service, collaboration, and real-world experiences that prepare students to thrive in an ever-changing world.

At Lamar High School, Tiger Pride is more than a tradition—it's a commitment to excellence. Together with our families, staff, and community, we are building a school where students are empowered to achieve their goals, serve others, and leave a lasting legacy.
